HM the King Endorses Chairperson of Chulalongkorn University Council

On Tuesday 7th February 2012, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej gave royal endorsement to Professor Emeritus Khunying Suchada Kiranandana as the Chairperson of the Chulalongkorn University Council, succeeding Prof. Dr. Charas Suwanwela, who has held the office for the past ten years. Khunying Suchada Kiranand is the first female Chairperson of the Chulalongkorn University Council.

Professor Emeritus Khunying Suchada Kiranandana, 65, was born on 15th Feb 1946. She graduated from the Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy (1st class honor), Chulalongkorn University and obtained both an M. A. and a Ph.D. in Statistics from Harvard University, United States. She became the first female President of Chulalongkorn University, holding the position between 1st April 2004 and 31st March 2008, and spearheaded the transformation of Chulalongkorn University into an autonomous university during her term of office. She was the Dean of Graduate School and Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy, each for two periods of office. Currently, she is a committee member of the Chulalongkorn University Council.
