Center of Academic Resources
The Center of Academic Resources (CAR) at Chulalongkorn University was established in 1978 by the integration of the three independent units of the University;- the Central Library, the Thailand Information Center and the Audio-Visual Center. But the history of the Central Library dates back to 1910 when the Civil Servant School was established and was later elevated to the status of University in 1917. Then in 1993, three further units were added ie:- the International Information Center and the Art Center to create a complete knowledge center to support the academic activities of the University. Since 2000, CU-GDLN or Chulalongkorn University Global Development Learning Network have been an additional activity of the Center. Car provides the University with academic service of excellence by keeping abreast with modern technology, using modern forms of computerized tools and linking with academic sites globally.
Car has a rich and diverse collection of resources focusing on the social sciences and humanities. Other subject fields are housed in thirty-eight faculties/institute libraries. Access to these materials is through Chulalinet, the University’s library network
