Innovative Care for Dementia: Humanitude Care

The Faculty of Nursing, Chulalongkorn University, invites interested participants to attend a workshop on “Humanitude Care: An Innovative Caregiving Method for Treating Elderly Patients with Dementia”.  The workshop will be on November 14-18, 2017, from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, on  3rd Floor, Department of Medical Services, Ministry of Public Health.  The focus will be on sharing knowledge, developing skills to apply the humanitude approach in caring for elderly patients with dementia, and set up a Humanitude Care network.

Humanitude care is suitable for elderly patients with dementia.  Using the philosophy of humanity for care giving, the method focuses on approaching patients with love, using eye contact, touch and verbal communication. This concept was brought forward over 35 years ago and has been accepted in France, Japan and many other countries around the world.

Guest speakers at the workshop will include Prof. Yves Gineste (Director, SAS Humanitude), Dr. Honda Miwako (Head Physician, Tokyo Medical Center), Ms. Sayoshi Hayashi (Humanitude Care Specialist, Tokyo Medical Center) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jiraporn Kespichayawattana.
