The latest QS World University Rankings 2017/2018 has been released and Chulalongkorn University’s world ranking has gone up from last year’s 252nd to 245th this year. It was also ranked 50th in best universities in Asia, being the only university from Thailand that made it to the Top 50 in Asia list. The University’s best ranking was the Chemical Engineering Department, which has been ranked in the 51-100 best-in-the-world, for learning and teaching quality, four years in a row. For graduate employability CU was ranked in the 251-300 in the world.
The six key indicators of measuring the world’s best universities include Academic Reputation, Citations per Faculty, Employer Reputation, Faculty/Student Ratio, International Faculty Ratio and International Students Ratio.
Other Thai universities listed in the QS Top Asian University rankings include Mahidol University (58th), Thammasat University (97th), Chiang Mai University (112th), Kasetsart University (149th), King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (171st), Khon Kaen University (178th), Prince of Songkla University (188th), King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (261-270) and Suranaree University of Technology (301-350).
Top universities in the world according to the QS rankings include Massachusetts Institute of Technology, coming in as the leader for six years in a row, followed by Stanford University and Harvard University. Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University and National University of Singapore took the top two best universities in Asia and listed 11th and 15th in the world, while Hong Kong University of Science and Technology ranked third in Asia.
