Learning Innovation Center

The Center for Innovative Learning at Chulalongkorn University aims to drive the development of modern teaching and learning that meets the needs of contemporary education, enhancing the capabilities of faculty and students in teaching, assessment, and the effective use of digital technology.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Center for Innovative Learning serves as a key mechanism in systematically developing and supporting the teaching and learning system at Chulalongkorn University. It encompasses academic, technological, and faculty capacity building aspects to create a high-quality learning environment relevant to the contemporary educational context. Its main missions are as follows:
- Promote Active Learning and Outcome-based Education (OBE).
- Promoting lifelong learning.
- Supporting classroom research to enhance learning, such as grants for Active Learning research, classroom research, and educational development.
- Develop and maintain educational technology systems.
- Supporting the sustainable professional development of faculty members through ongoing training.
Platforms and Technologies to support learning
Chula MOOC is an online course platform developed by the Center for Innovative Learning, providing interested individuals with learning opportunities anytime, anywhere. The content covers general and technological skills, as well as topics supporting lifelong learning, regardless of learner status or educational background.
Chulalongkorn University’s online Learning Management System (LMS) supports comprehensive teaching and learning management. Instructors can manage electronic content, upload documents and multimedia materials, assign assignments, organize learning activities, track student progress, and communicate systematically through announcements or discussion boards. This enhances course management efficiency and promotes continuous learning in both online and blended learning formats.
The online examination system is designed to support efficient and secure digital learning assessment. It supports various test formats, including multiple-choice, essay, and conditional tests. It allows for setting deadlines, randomizing test questions, and systematically managing test databases, ensuring transparent, accurate, and aligned assessments with defined learning outcomes.
Kaltura is a system for recording and managing instructional videos. It supports both in-classroom and online teaching via Zoom, and allows videos to be published on the myCourseVille platform for students to review material at any time.
The system includes tools for basic video editing, creating playlists, dividing into chapters, adding subtitles, and inserting questions into videos to encourage student engagement. Furthermore, it can collect viewership statistics in percentage form for analysis and effective assessment of learning outcomes.
Augmented Reality (AR) learning materials are an innovative teaching method that integrates the virtual world with the real environment, allowing learners to view objects or academic content in a realistic 3D format through compatible software and devices such as computers, webcams, visualizers, or other display devices.
The virtual images displayed can be interactive, making learning easier to understand, providing a clearer visual experience, and enhancing in-depth learning, especially in subjects that require visualization of complex structures, details, or processes.
This real-time classroom engagement tool, accessible via smart devices, allows instructors to ask questions, conduct surveys, or engage in interactive activities during lessons. The system provides immediate feedback and statistics, helping instructors assess student understanding and adjust teaching methods accordingly.

Developing learning spaces into smart classrooms that support new learning approaches involves installing modern communication and presentation technologies. These spaces facilitate group work, discussions, and interactive learning between instructors and students, and can be applied to both in-person and blended learning environments to create an environment conducive to active learning and effective collaboration.
The Center for Innovative Learning aims to promote lifelong learning through online courses and digital tools that provide learners of all ages with opportunities to develop new skills, expand their knowledge, and keep pace with the changes in the digital age.
Because learning should not be confined to the classroom, but should be an opportunity to continuously develop one’s potential, building readiness and confidence for a sustainable future.
