Chula Architecture Students Win Interior Design Competition for Executive Lounge at Suvarnabhumi Airport

Congratulations to Ms. Ploykwan Piriyajitakonkijand and Ms. Nitcha Eiamkriengkrai, fourth-year Interior Design students at the Chula Faculty of Architecture, for winning the first prize in the Interior Design Competition for Thai Airways Executive Passenger Lounge for Royal Silk Class and Business Class at Suvarnabhumi Airport with their project “WEAVING the memories”.


This competition, a collaboration between Thai Airways and the Faculty of Architecture at Chulalongkorn University, aims to promote and provide opportunities for students to showcase innovative ideas, creating nationally recognized works based on knowledge acquired from educational institutions. Participants are tasked with designing the interior of a new special passenger lounge for Royal Silk Class and Business Class, focusing on the theme “Thai Identity.” Thai Airways plans to transform the current Spa Lounge at Suvarnabhumi Airport into a new special lounge that caters to passenger needs, enhances usability, and features a stunning decor that captures the essence of Thailand. Award-winning designs may be considered for future constructions by Thai Airways.
The award ceremony, held at the 1st floor lobby, Building 1, Thai Airways Headquarters, Vibhavadi Rangsit Road, Bangkok, was attended by Mr. Chai Eamsiri, Chief Executive Officer of Thai Airways International Public Company Limited, who presided over the ceremony. Also in attendance were Mrs. Varangkana Luerojvong, Chief Officer of the Aviation Business Unit, and Mr. Chawan Ratanawaraha, Managing Director of Ground Services; and Assistant Professor Sarayut Supsook, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University, alongside executives, professors, and students.
The award judging committee comprised of experts in related fields, including representatives from Thai Airways, professors from the Faculty of Architecture at Chulalongkorn University, and others. Fourteen teams of students participated in the competition, with the grand prize winner receiving 50,000 baht, the first runner-up receiving 30,000 baht, the second runner-up receiving 10,000 baht, and two honorable mentions, each receiving a prize of 5,000 baht.
