Join “BANTHATTHONG FREEDOM STREET” – Nov 2-3: Chula’s Call for a Sustainable City
In collaboration with Chulalongkorn University’s Property Management Office (PMCU), Nylon, and Pathumwan District Office, Chulalongkorn University invites the CU community and members of the public to take part in creating a sustainable urban environment at “BANTHATTHONG FREEDOM STREET FOR ALL,” taking place from November 2-3, 2024, from 4:00 PM to midnight. The event encourages urban dwellers to come in costume and join the festivities at the Banthat Thong intersection.
Main activities include:
SPIRIT OF SDGs CITY
- My Cup, My City: Help combat plastic waste by using personal cups instead of disposable ones, reducing waste and pollution. Enjoy discounts at famous Banthat Thong and Suan Luang cafes, including Neung Nom Nua, Tangjai Joom, Namtouhu Tong Pang, Thai Desserts Mae Duen, Mee Khun, Yoko Donut and John’s Lemon, Rich Happens, MIRUKU, Newtro Cafe, Bedtled, and The Hat Trick Hostel.
- Safe Ride to Banthat Thong: Join a Fun Trip with BUCA Using Public Transport and Biking
- BANTHATTHONG CITY MODEL: Share ideas with We!Park on transforming sidewalks and canal spaces into “happy zones” for all.
- TRICK or TRASH: Playfully learn proper waste disposal and waste management with ideas from Chula Zero Waste.
- SPIRIT ART & SHOW: FREEDOM OF ART: Turn the street into a stage for art performances supporting various talents, from singing and dancing to showcasing new bands along Banthat Thong Road.
- SPIRIT STREET: Enjoy Body Paint, road closures for creative freedom, and costume fun in the middle of the Banthat Thong intersection. Pose without fear on a 360-degree screen. Join exciting games and activities along the way!
The event promotes sustainable transport, encouraging public transport over private cars with BUCA’s Bike Bus initiative, offering safe bike rides to Banthat Thong from two main locations:
BTS National Stadium Station:
- Bicycles available in front of Thephasadin Stadium.
- Muvmi service (operating until 11:00 PM).
MRT Samyan Station:
- Bicycles available at Samyan Mitrtown (main entrance near Starbucks).
- Muvmi service (operating until 11:00 PM).
