Chulalongkorn University Showcases its Research at RUN 2025: Creative Economy for Thailand Tomorrow

Chulalongkorn University joined fellow institutions in presenting research projects at the RUN 2025 Exhibition: Creative Economy for Thailand Tomorrow, held as part of the Thailand Research Expo 2025 from June 16–20, 2025, at Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Centre, Central World.
The event was organized by the Research University Network (RUN), a coalition of leading Thai universities, and officially opened on June 16 by Assoc. Prof. Dr. M.L.Pinitbhand Paribatra, Chair of the RUN 2025 Exhibition and Vice President for Research and Innovation at Thammasat University. The opening ceremony was presided over by Prof. Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation, and Dr. Wiparat De-ong, Executive Director of the National Research Council of Thailand. Representing Chulalongkorn University at the opening was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pannee Cheewinsiriwat, Assistant to the President for Research.
This year’s RUN exhibition centers around the theme “Creative Economy for Thailand Tomorrow,” with research showcased in three key areas:
- Innovation and Technology—highlighting advances in science, technology, and their applications in national development;
- Arts and Culture—promoting Thai soft power through research that reflects the nation’s cultural identity and beauty;
- Sustainability—presenting innovations aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to help reduce environmental impact and build a more secure future.
As a member of RUN, Chulalongkorn University presented three standout research projects at the exhibition:
- “Sweet Revolution: Transforming Sugar in Fruits into Functional Delights” by Prof. Dr. Supaart Sirikantaramas and team from the Faculty of Science.
- “Mud Sang: Reviving the Global Story of Muay Thai” by Prof. Dr. Sunait Chutintaranon from the Multicultural Studies and Social Innovation Center, Institute of Asian Studies.
- “Creating Innovators through Theater and Local-Contemporary Knowledge: Adding Value and Diversity to a Creative Thailand” by Prof. Pornrat Damrhung from the Faculty of Arts.
