His Majesty King Ananda Mahidol (Rama VIII) presided over the graduation ceremony for the academic year 2487 (1944).

Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn studied at the Faculty of Arts and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree with First Class Honors and a Gold Medal in 1977.

James D. Wolfensohn, President of the World Bank, delivered a keynote address on “The Social Dimension: The Impact of the East Asian Economic Crisis.”

His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam was awarded an honorary doctorate in Political Science.

His Majesty King Abdullah II of the Kingdom of Jordan was awarded an honorary doctorate in Political Science.

Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko of Japan paid a private visit to Chulalongkorn University.

Professor Eric S. Maskin, Nobel laureate economist, holds the Adams University Professorship in the Department of Economics at Harvard University. He gave a lecture titled “Why Globalization Has Failed to Reduce Inequality” at Chulalongkorn University Auditorium.

Professor Edvard Moser, Nobel laureate in Physiology or Medicine, affiliated with the Kavli Institute for Systems Neuroscience at Trondheim University of Science and Technology, Norway, delivered a lecture on “The Brain’s GPS: How We Know Where We Are” at the Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University.

Prof. Robert F. Engle III, Nobel laureate economist and Michael Armellino is a Professor of Finance at the Stern School of Business, New York University, USA. Lecture on the topic “A Financial Approach to Climate Risk” at the Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration, Chulalongkorn University.

Professor Randy W. Schekman, Nobel laureate in physiology or medicine, affiliated with the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology, University of California, Berkeley, USA. Lecture titled “The Role of Public Universities as an Engine for Social Change” at the Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University.
