About
The Human Body Museum at Chulalongkorn University was established through a significant donation of plastinated human specimens from Medical Doctor Soft House Co., Ltd. in Japan. The project was led by the company’s president, Katsumi Katamura, with guidance from Professor Katsuhiro Eto of Tokyo Medical and Dental University.
The formal agreement was signed on October 31, 2011, by Professor Dr. Pirom Kamolratanakul, who was President of Chulalongkorn University at the time. Following this, the museum officially opened to the public on August 14, 2012.
Located within the Faculty of Dentistry, the museum holds a unique distinction: it is one of only 11 such museums in the world and was the first of its kind in Southeast Asia. Its exhibits feature real human bodies and organs preserved through an advanced technique called plastination. This process replaces water and fat in biological tissues with polymers, creating specimens that are realistic, odorless, and durable, making them ideal for the effective study of human anatomy.
