About
The Luang Vach Vidyavaddhana Museum at Chulalongkorn University was established in 1982 to commemorate Luang Vach Vidyavaddhana Museum, founder of the Faculty of Dentistry, and to document the history and evolution of dentistry in Thailand.
The museum houses a collection of artifacts and exhibits that trace the development of dentistry in Thailand. The displays feature a wide array of items, including historical documents, photographs, early instruments, and antique equipment such as traditional dental chairs and the first X-ray machines. Many of these items are among the oldest surviving artifacts from Thailand’s earliest dental clinics and practices.
Among the museum’s most prized treasures is the personal dental unit of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. This unique exhibit includes the examination instruments, mirrors, forceps, and other materials used for his treatment. Also on display is the original X-ray machine used for His Majesty’s dental care since childhood.
