Chula and the University of Hong Kong Sign MoU on Thai Studies and Buddhist Studies

Assoc. Prof. Ritthirong Jiwakanon, Director of the Thai Studies Institute, Chulalongkorn University, and Prof. Georgios T. Halkias, Director of the Centre of Buddhist Studies, The University of Hong Kong, jointly signed an academic cooperation agreement between the Thai Studies Institute of Chulalongkorn University and the Centre of Buddhist Studies of the University of Hong Kong on February 23, 2026.

The Chulalongkorn University executive team, led by Prof. Dr. Parichart Sthapitanonda, Vice President, together with Asst. Prof. Dr. Tewarit Sarachana, Assistant to the President; Asst. Prof. Dr. Nhabhat Chaimongkol, Assistant to the President; Dr. Vorapol Jaroonvanichkul, Assistant to the President; and Asst. Prof. Dr. Pram Sounsamut, Deputy Director of the Thai Studies Institute, also attended the signing ceremony.

This collaboration between Chulalongkorn University and the University of Hong Kong aims to promote joint academic initiatives, including faculty and researcher exchanges, collaborative research projects, academic publications, conferences, seminars, and cultural activities. It also seeks to enhance teaching and learning cooperation in Thai Studies, Buddhist Studies, and related interdisciplinary fields; strengthen academic networks; and foster sustainable long-term institutional partnerships.
