About
Striving for excellence in research, academic services, and as a leading national and international reference source in Asian studies.
The Institute of Asian Studies conducts research at the national, regional, and thematic levels under its centers and projects, including the Asian Migration Research Center, the China Studies Center, the Mekong Studies Center, the Muslim Studies Center, and the Japan Studies Project. The Asian Migration Research Center, the Mekong Studies Center, and the Muslim Studies Center are supported by the university to become specialized centers. The research centers have administrative committees that determine their operational guidelines in accordance with the institute’s policies, direction, and strategies, which align with national needs and the global societal context.
Furthermore, the research division provides support and strengthens research centers and researchers in various ways, such as providing funding to promote research projects for young researchers, supporting researchers to attend conferences and present their work both domestically and internationally, etc., with the researchers’ conference serving as a central hub for exchanging information.
Furthermore, the institute also conducts academic services to society in various forms. The institute and its research centers jointly provide academic services based on their expertise at both national and international levels, such as conferences, discussions, seminars, lectures, media interviews, and the publication of journals and academic publications to disseminate research and academic work, knowledge, and issues of interest in order to offer solutions and support to society, under the guiding principle that:“When Asia is in trouble, the Institute of Asian Studies has the answers.”
