Chulalongkorn – NUS Collaborate in Reinventing University Project

Chulalongkorn University’s researchers and administrators met with researchers from The National University of Singapore (NUS) to discuss research and collaboration opportunities on May 24, 2023, at the National University of Singapore, Singapore.

Assoc. Prof. Pharm. Dr. Vithaya Kulsomboon, Director of the Second Century Fund (C2F), represented Prof. Dr. Chakkaphan Sutthirat, Vice President for Research Affairs, Chulalongkorn University, along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pannee Cheewinsiriwat, Assistant Vice President for Research Affairs, in a discussion on research and collaboration opportunities with lecturers and researchers from The National University of Singapore under the project “Reinventing University,” sponsored by Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation.

The research team from Chulalongkorn University presented their research in 3 main areas, namely

– Prof. Dr. Chanathip Pharino, Assistant Vice President for Research Affairs, presented on “Net Zero”

– Assst. Prof. Dr.Thitirat Panbamrungkij, Deputy Director of the Institute of Asian Studies, and Dr. Chanita Duangyiwa, from Faculty of Arts, presented on high-value tourism

– Assst. Prof. Dr. Nattapong Punnoi, Assistant Dean of Faculty of Architecture, presented on “Urban Design and Development.”

Then, on May 25, 2023, the National University of Singapore’s researchers led a team of Chula’s researchers to visit “NUS Enterpise” at Block71, a technology community and startup hub in Singapore. This hub caters innovation to social needs, as well as manages the ecosystem that allows startups and Deep Tech groups to work together and produce effective results. The Block71 team presented a startup project that utilizes AI to analyze communication by considering the face, posture, voice, and language to give advice on how to improve their personality according to the user’s needs. Another startup project presented was an English language learning program through articles, which is developed in conjunction with a startup from Thailand, which helps with the practice of listening, speaking, reading and writing from articles.
