Chulalongkorn University, in collaboration with the National University of Singapore, organized a workshop titled Net–Zero Energy and Decarbonization on August 24, 2023, at Kamonmart Ballroom, 6th floor of The Sukosol-Bangkok. The aims of the workshop were to discuss and exchange ideas for developing ways to use renewable energy to reduce carbon in the country and move towards carbon neutrality. Prof. Dr. Chanathip Pharino, Assistant Vice President of Chulalongkorn University, gave an opening speech to the workshop, referring to the rationale and significance of this collaborative workshop with the National University of Singapore on the development of emission-reducing processes and the use of alternative energy, such as hydrogen power and battery. Among the attendees were professors and researchers from the National University of Singapore, including Prof. Praveen Linga, Carbon Dioxide Capture & Storage, Assoc. Prof. Ning Yan, Renewable Fuels, and Asst. Prof. Lei Wang, Electrocatalysis.
The workshop was a venue for an exchange of knowledge and action plan between the National University of Singapore and Chulalongkorn University, with a common goal of achieving Net Zero emissions, as well as learning from obstacles and exploring environmental innovations that can be further developed into tools for future goals. It resulted in an integrated approach to cooperation on a variety of issues, such as knowledge exchange and observational visits to build academic networks and co-research proposals, human resource development, scholarships, and research to promote the goal of net zero in a sustainable manner.
