Bangkok Forum 2018: The Future Sustainable Asia

Chulalongkorn University and the Korean Foundation for Advanced Studies will co-host the Bangkok Forum 2018 from 24 – 25 October 2018. This year’s theme will focus on “Integrating Knowledge for Social Sustainability”.  Through discussions and the exchange of perspectives, the forum is organized to strengthen the region through collaborations and inclusiveness for a sustainable Asia. Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn will preside and make a speech at   the opening ceremony on Wednesday, 24 October 2018 at 9:00 AM, Chulalongkorn University Auditorium.

 

Keynote speakers for the forum include:

 

• Supachai Panitchpakdi, Former Secretary General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development and Former Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), speaking on the topic of “Future Governance for a Sustainable Asia”
• Noeleen Heyzer, UN Secretary-General’s High-Level Advisory Board Member on Mediation, speaking on the topic “Towards an Inclusive and Sustainable ASEAN”
• Hongjoo Hahm, Officer-in-Charge of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), speaking on the topic of “The Challenges of SDGs in the Asia Pacific Region”

 

Other plenary sessions will include topics on social sustainability from both local and international speakers, including Professor Dr. Pasuk Phongpaichit, Prof. Surichai Wun’Gaeo, Dr. Somchai Jitsuchon, Mr. Sakchai Patiparnprechavud, Dr. Patamawadee Pochanukul, Dr. Thorn Pitidol, Dr. Priyanut Dharmapiya, Professor Dr. Jonathan Rigg, and other notable speakers.

The Bangkok Forum 2018 is FREE.
