From May 23-24, 2024, the English as an International Language (EIL) Program, an interdisciplinary/international program of Chulalongkorn University Graduate School, held the 3rd EIL Academic Forum under the theme “Revisualizing English as an International Language: New Vistas, Shared Visions” at the Eastin Grand Hotel Phayathai, with Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat, Acting President of Chulalongkorn University, presiding over the opening ceremony.

3rd EIL Academic Forum: Revisualizing English as an International Language: New Vistas, Shared Visions

The forum brought together distinguished scholars from around the world including Prof. Jun Liu, Rector of City University of Macau, among other experts from the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Singapore, and Vietnam, as well as Chulalongkorn University professors and EIL alumni who were invited to give presentations. There were also poster presentations from current students of the EIL Program

Almost 200 participants, including professionals and graduate students from overseas and across the country, engaged in exchanges on linguistics, language instruction, and language assessment and evaluation, the three tracks of the EIL Program. Among the participants were 20 school teachers who were grantees of funding offered by the Regional English Language Office at the United States Embassy

The forum was filled with academic exchange and presentations of great benefit to the Thai academic community. 

Chula’s encouragement and support for research is excellent for teachers, students, and the public.
