Get ready for a splash at the best water festival in town! Chulalongkorn University, the Ministry of Culture, and the Tourism Authority of Thailand invite all to celebrate the traditional Thai New Year, at Siam Square, between 13–15 April 2019 from 12:00pm–6:00pm. Organized for the 7th time this year, the “Songkran and Pha-Kao-Ma” Festival at Siam Square will include unique and traditional activities to promote celebrating Songkran the authentic way. Join the festivities in traditional thai costume and have a chance to win prizes for being the best dressed.
The venue will feature six zones, offering a balance of traditional Thai practices and modern Thai celebrations. Enjoy cultural performances from neighboring countries, pay respect Buddha statues, dress up in traditional Thai costumes, and cool down the summer heat with the 100–meter long water slide and free concerts.
The 6 zones will include:
Zone 1: Songkran Stage at Hard Rock Cafe – Enjoy a free mini-concert from Thai local artists like Ae Jirakorn, Songkran Rangsan, Nont Tanont, Toey and Poppy from Mic Thongkham, Playground, Lipta, and Urboy TJ.
Zone 2: ASEAN Market – Shop products from the ASEAN community and join workshops for children.
Zone 3: Let the Water Flow – Whiz down a 100–meter water slide.
Zone 4: AEC Merit Courtyard – Pay homage to Buddha statues originating from Thai, Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar.
Zone 5: Cultural Stage – Enjoy cultural performances from 4 countries; featuring Lamtat from Thailand, Rum Vong from Laos, Peacock Folk Dance from Cambodia, and Yein Dance from Myanmar.
Zone 6: The Comedy Stage at Siam Square Soi 8
To ensure safety for all festival-goers throughout the 3-day festivities, security checkpoints will be in place and the splashing of water mixed with powder, use of high-pressured water guns, and alcohol drinking are prohibited.
Visitors may access the venue via the BTS, Siam station. For those who wish to drive, parking is available at Siamkit Building and Wittayakit Building.
