Prof. Dr. Surakiart Sathirathai, Chairman of Chulalongkorn University Council, along with council members, Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat, Acting President of Chulalongkorn University, and the university’s executives, deans, and institute directors, participated in the University Council and Executive Seminar titled “Journey to Chula 111.” The seminar took place from September 13 to 15, 2024, at the Holiday Inn Hotel, Pattaya, Chonburi Province.
Its aim was to strengthen the relationship between the University Council, management team, and department heads, to effectively communicate the council’s policies to the university’s executives, and to collaboratively explore strategies for advancing Chulalongkorn University and defining its direction towards its 111th year. Prof. Dr. Surakiart delivered the welcome address and keynote speech on “Global Changes and Chula’s Adaptation: Chula Journey to the Whole New World.”
The seminar included various presentations, such as “Journey to Chula 111” and “Strategic Journey to Chula 111” by Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat, Acting President of Chulalongkorn University. The session “Council Conversations: A Journey of Insight” featured presentations by notable speakers, including Prof. Dr. Soottiporn Chittmittrapap, Asst. Prof. Dr. M.R. Kalaya Tingsabadh, Mr. Tevin Vongvanich, Mr. Vasit Taepaisitphongse, Prof. Kitipong Urapeepattanapong, Prof. Khemchai Chutiwongse, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Danuja Kunpanitchakit, and Ms. Wiwan Tharahirunchote. Additionally, “Outside In: Rethinking University Education” was presented by Dr. Santitarn Sathirathai, a board member and independent director at Bluebik Group Public Co., Ltd., and advisor to the Future Economy at the Thailand Development Research Institute (TDRI), along with Mr. Kaweewut Temphuwapat, Head of R&D Innovation Lab at SCBX.
On the final day of the seminar, Prof. Dr. Surakiart Sathirathai summarized the overall outcomes, and Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat expressed his appreciation to the University Council members and executives.
The seminar fulfilled its mission of strengthening the ties between Chulalongkorn University’s council and administration team, providing a clear vision for driving the university forward to contribute to Thai society with speed and sustainability. Insights and practical strategies shared by distinguished council members will help shape the development of a stronger university. Diverse perspectives from external experts opened opportunities to explore new management approaches. The executive team’s strategic plans were able to address the council’s feedback and expectations, enhancing the university’s operational effectiveness.
