On September 20, 2024, at meeting rooms 202 and 203, Chamchuri 4 Building, the Office of Research Administration at Chulalongkorn University, together with the Asahi Glass Foundation Japan, held the 32nd Special CU-af Seminar 2024 and the annual Research Grant Award Ceremony of the Asahi Glass Foundation Japan for 2024. Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, delivered the welcoming address and presided over the opening of the seminar, with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pannee Cheewinsiriwat, Acting Assistant to the President for Research Affairs, giving the opening report.
The event featured presentations of research work from recipients of the Asahi Glass Foundation Research Grants for 2022-2023. Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat and Mr. Takuya Shimamura, President of the Asahi Glass Foundation Japan, signed the cooperation agreement between Chulalongkorn University and the Asahi Glass Foundation Japan. Mr. Shimamura then expressed his congratulations and presented the 2024 research grants to 11 Chulalongkorn University faculty members. Additionally, there was a special lecture on the topic “The Future of Research: How AI Will Make Us Smarter (Without Making Us Lazy)” by Associate Professor Dr. Proadpran Punyabukkana from the Department of Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University.
The Special CU-af Seminar and the Asahi Glass Foundation Japan Research Grant Ceremony is an event held annually to showcase the research work of Chulalongkorn University faculty members who receive support from the Asahi Glass Foundation. The event also includes the presentation of research grants to Chulalongkorn researchers.
