10 Future Directions for Thailand – Prof. Dr. Surakiart Sathirathai at Chula Thailand President’s Summit 2025

At the Chula Thailand Presidents Summit 2025, held on February 3, 2025, at Chulalongkorn Auditorium, Prof. Dr. Surakiart Sathirathai, Chairman of the Chulalongkorn University Council, shared his ideas on 10 directions towards Thailand’s future. The details are as follow:
- Devise strategic position and formulate clear strategies
Determine the role to be played by Thailand at the global level and strategic planning for national development - Prepare for change
Prepare for changes in technology, population, pandemic, and environment to ensure Thailand’s readiness to adapt to new challenges - Stimulate sustainability
Promote approaches to long-term economic, social, and environmental development - Emphasize all-inclusive tourism as the main driver of the economy
Utilize Thailand’s tourism potential to generate income and develop the economy - Prioritize food and health security
Promote food safety and self-sufficiency, and develop the public health system - Boost energy security
Develop sources of sustainable energy and reduce reliance on imported energy - Elevate education to prepare for the future
Improve the education system to address new skills so as to enable Thai people to compete on the global stage - Reform laws and regulations
Adjust regulatory structures to facilitate development and reduce burdens on citizens and businesses - Overhaul the bureaucratic system and reform ministries, bureaus, and departments
Increase efficiency of the public sector, reducing redundancy and increasing transparency - Promote research and development to enhance competitiveness
Support research and innovation to ensure that Thailand can become a technological and economic leader
