Announcement from: The Office of Physical Resources Management, Chulalongkorn University Subject: Damages from Earthquake and Safety Measures in High-Rise Building Areas

Damages from Earthquake and Safety Measures in High-Rise Building Areas

Following the earthquake event, initial inspections of high-rise buildings within the university area have revealed damage to minor components of the buildings, such as ceilings, tiles, plaster, glass, etc., with some parts detached, cracked, or fallen from the buildings.

However, at this time, no damage affecting the main structural integrity of the buildings has been found.

To monitor and prevent potential hazards that may arise from building components that still have the potential to detach or fall further, the university has implemented temporary fence installations in high-risk areas to restrict access to dangerous zones.

Therefore, we kindly request cooperation from all students, faculty, staff, and members of the Chulalongkorn University community to exercise special caution when inside or around buildings and to avoid approaching cordoned-off areas for everyone’s safety.

The Office of Physical Resources Management expresses its utmost concern for the safety of everyone and will proceed to inspect and repair the affected areas as quickly as possible, and will continue to report progress.
