On May 27, 2025, the Centre of Learning Network for Region (CLNR) Chulalongkorn University was given samples of clay models titled “Phan Mai Nai Phra Nam” (Plants Named after a Royalty), which are part of the “Rattana of Chulalongkorn” exhibition, from Samyan Mitrtown Shopping Center Executive Ms. Jaruwan Ngapanichawat, Director of Strategic Retail Marketing of Frasers Property Commercial (Thailand). Asst. Prof. Dr. Thanasin Chutintaranond, Assistant to the President of Chulalongkorn University for Social Engagement, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Noppadon Kitana, Director of CLNR, represented Chulalongkorn University in receiving the samples.
The clay model samples of plants named after Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn comprise 10 plants, namely Bauhinia sirindhorniae, Magnolia sirindhorniae, Impatiens sirindhorniae, Persian violet, Thepparatia thailandica, Sirindhornia mirabilis, Sirindhornia pulchella, Sirindhornia monophylla, Zingiber sirindhorniae, and Buxus sirindhorniana.
This activity is a collaboration under the Impactful Growth strategy of Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, and Chula Social Engagement strategy of Vice President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yootthana Chuppunnarat. The objective is to expand learning opportunities to children in regional areas. All samples will be displayed at the “Silapa-Sin Thammachart Museum” of Chulalongkorn University, Saraburi, to serve as learning tools in botany for children as well as to be used in the workshops of the Plant Genetic Conservation Project under the Royal Initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, for which Chulalongkorn University has been designated as the main coordinating hub.
