Papal visits are historic and one such visit is taking place at Chulalongkorn University in November 2019. Pope Francis will visit Thailand from 20 – 23 November 2019, following the invitation of the Royal Thai Government and and the Bishops Conference of Thailand. The apostolic visit marks the 350th anniversary of the founding of “Mission de Siam”, and 50 years of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Holy See.
During this historic visit, Pope Francis will deliver a speech on “Building Bridges for Peace and Understanding” on 22 November 2019, from 3:15 pm. to 4:15 pm. at the CU Auditorium. The speech will be in Spanish, with simultaneous English and Thai translation.
Members of the CU community interested in joining this momentous event should contact their departments and work units. Due to the limited space available in the auditorium, appropriate quotas have been allocated to each department and work unit.
For security reasons only individuals with prior registration will be allowed into the CU auditorium on 22 November 2019. Upon arrival, registered guests are requested to present the assigned QR code sent to them with the registration conformation email, along with their form of identification (Thai ID card or passport) to receive a badge and wristband for entry. The registration desk will be located at Boromrajkumari Building, Faculty of Arts and will be open from 12.30 pm – 14.00 pm.
