On June 12, 2025, Thailand Post and Chulalongkorn University through the Faculty of Veterinary Science and the Bangkok Animal Hospital, held a press conference “Thailand Post Delivers Medicine, Chula Vet Sends Love,” at Post Café Samsennai. Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat, Chulalongkorn University President, gave an opening speech to the event.
“Thailand Post Delivers Medicine, Chula Vet Sends Love” opens a new dimension in pet healthcare by delivering animal medicines and medical supplies to pet lovers using the EMS delivery system. The service operates on 2 channels: home delivery service for those who visit Bangkok Animal Hospital and home delivery service for users of the Televet online channel. This lessens the waiting time for medication pickup and reduces crowding in hospitals that serve large numbers of people. It is projected that in 2025, Thailand’s pet population will increase by approximately 6% from the previous year, indicating growth opportunities in transportation, treatment systems, and logistics in this sector.
According to Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat, Chulalongkorn University President, the collaboration on the “Thailand Post Delivers Medicine, Chula Vet Sends Love” project stems from the combined strength of two organizations that recognize the importance of combining existing resources, expertise, and networks together for the genuine benefit of the public, especially pet owners who need to bring their pets for treatment and medication at hospitals. The relief offered includes reducing the need to travel, costs shouldered by pet owners, and alleviating crowding at animal hospitals.
The President also placed emphasis on the fact that “universities should not limit their role to just teaching or research but must be a driving force capable of creating new ecosystems for society. Meanwhile, Thailand Post demonstrates its important role as a truly valuable infrastructure that not only delivers packages but can become part of an equitable healthcare service system that improves quality of life for people in all regions. That value has now expanded to pets. This collaboration is not only about providing convenience for users and pets but also helps open doors to new concepts for efficiently integrating government and academic services. It also lays the foundation for Thailand’s pet healthcare system to be strong, agile, and ready to develop into a permanent structure in the country’s pet healthcare system going forward.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Ake Pattaratanakun, Director and Chairperson of Thailand Post Co., Ltd., explained how the “Thailand Post Delivers Medicine, Chula Vet Sends Love” project represents a significant partnership between national-level brands like “Chulalongkorn University” and “Thailand Post.” A strategic collaboration, this project brings long-term economic and social driving forces, including the animal health dimension, which is a rapidly growing business sector. The integration of both organizations’ strengths—Thailand Post’s national transportation network and Chulalongkorn University’s veterinary expertise—creates a value chain for the country’s animal health industry. This will not only enhance the quality of life for pets but also create positive impacts on society and pet owners living outside urban areas who may still lack access to traditional animal health services.
“This project also reinforces ‘Thailand Post’s’ advancement toward becoming part of the country’s health infrastructure. From being a leader in parcel delivery, Thailand Post is now a health partner that connects treatment and medical supplies to people’s doorsteps with reliable transportation standards. This bolsters its status as a national communication and transportation agency that stands beside Thai people in every dimension. Furthermore, when this project can be expanded to other regions or additional veterinary hospital networks, it will further strengthen Thailand Post’s image as a brand that truly drives the well-being of Thai society. At the same time, it reflects Chulalongkorn University’s role as a creator of standardized, accessible animal health systems, with opportunities to extend to the national policy level in the future.”
Prof. Dr. Sanipa Suradhat, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Science, Chulalongkorn University, stated that the demand and behavior of pet owners in Thailand and the region are rapidly changing, particularly the deeper bond between owners and their pets. This transformation is driving demand for premium products, health-focused services, and technology-driven solutions. The Faculty of Veterinary Science at Chulalongkorn University, therefore, does not view itself merely as a “care provider’ but is ready to advance towards becoming “the creator of a future-ready pet health system” complete with research, services, and accessibility. This collaboration with Thailand Post serves as a model that can be extended to other sectors in the future, which will help drive Thailand’s pet health sector to grow sustainably and meet the expectations of modern pet owners who view their pets as family members.
“Under this collaboration, the Faculty sees a significant opportunity to leverage its efficient transportation system and its own expertise to enhance confidence among pet owners and the pet market. At present, the Faculty, along with Bangkok Animal Hospital, is well-equipped with resources to provide comprehensive and specialized clinical services for various types of pets, emergency care, and advanced diagnostics (CT-Scan, MRI), as well as specialized clinics. The Faculty is also recognized as the first veterinary school and a leading institution in Thailand, with international acclaim. This reinforces the credibility of its healthcare system among users nationwide,” said the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Science, Chulalongkorn University.
Dr. Dhanant Subhadrabandhu, CEO of Thailand Post, announced that Thailand’s pet market value continues to show steady growth trends due to increased pet ownership. Most people care for pets like their own family members. In 2024, the pet market, particularly in veterinary services, had a market value of up to 664 billion baht. For 2025, it is projected that Thailand’s pet population will rise by approximately 6% from the previous year, accounting for about 5.38 million pet owners, with dogs and cats being the most popular pets. This collaboration with Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Veterinary Science extends Thailand Post’s expertise in transportation with the “Parcel Defined Logistics” concept, which designs transportation systems to cater to all types of items. For the delivery of medicines and medical supplies, Thailand Post has been providing the service since 2012 to facilitate patients and hospitals. Currently, over 400 hospitals nationwide use Thailand Post’s medicine and medical supply delivery services, including Siriraj Hospital, Chulabhorn Hospital, Bangkok Hospital, and Vajira Hospital, with over 2.32 million items delivered to date.
Dr. Dhanant commented that this delivery service of medicine and medical supplies for pets marks access to the pet lovers customer base that is likely to continue expanding in Thailand. The 2-channel services for Bangkok Animal Hospital visitors and Televet users will reduce waiting time and crowding at hospitals, as well as expenses and commute time for those living far away. The service combines Thailand Post’s EMS express delivery service that guarantees delivery standards within 1-2 business days directly to homes with appropriate packaging and transportation methods that help maintain the effectiveness of medicines and medical supplies. Additionally, users can track real-time delivery status 24 hours a day. Thailand Post also has a network of over 50,000 service points covering all areas nationwide and over 25,000 postal workers who are experts on every route, with delivery service rates starting at just 120 baht per shipment.”
Dr. Chaiyot Tanrattana, Assistant Dean of Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Veterinary Science and Director of Bangkok Animal Hospital, stated that from the animal hospital perspective, modern pet healthcare must be designed as a comprehensive end-to-end system. This ranges from consultation through the Televet system, treatment planning, symptom monitoring, and communication with veterinarians to safe and standardized home medicine delivery systems. The “Thailand Post Delivers Medicine, Chula Vet Sends Love” project serves as one important mechanism that completes this system and makes animal treatment and care more equitable.
“This campaign is paving the way for the Pet Health Infrastructure, which seamlessly connects every stage of pet healthcare services. It represents a new direction in pet care in Thailand, catering to animal lovers in the digital age—including urban families and those in remote areas—who seek reliable healthcare services without the need to bring their pets to animal hospitals. It also helps transform the lifestyle of Thai people by enabling pet health management from anywhere,” said Dr. Chaiyot.
