Chulalongkorn University, through the Indian Studies Center of the Institute of Asian Studies, in collaboration with the Embassy of India in Thailand, organized the 11th International Day of Yoga under the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health” on Saturday, June 21, 2025. The event was held at the plaza in front of the King Chulalongkorn and King Vajiravudh Statues at Chulalongkorn University, to promote physical and mental well-being through yoga. This year, more than 4,000 participants joined the event.
Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, welcomed the participants and was joined by Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, as a guest of honor.
Professor Dr. Wilert emphasized that yoga is not merely a form of physical exercise but a holistic discipline that cultivates physical, mental, and spiritual harmony. This philosophy aligns with Chulalongkorn University’s core value of utilizing knowledge to serve society with vision and responsibility.
He expressed gratitude to India for this invaluable philosophical heritage and praised the ongoing collaboration between the Embassy of India and Chulalongkorn University’s Indian Studies Center in strengthening sustainable academic and cultural ties between the two nations.
The President concluded with a key message: “Health is balance, and that balance begins within ourselves.” He encouraged everyone to incorporate yoga into their daily lives to help build a more peaceful and compassionate world.
Chulalongkorn University and the Embassy of India co-hosted the International Day of Yoga for the first time in 2015. Since then, the annual event has been continuously held at the same location. This year’s event took place on June 21, the date proposed by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and later proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly as the International Day of Yoga.
