Chulalongkorn University and the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on research and innovation development. The signing ceremony, held on June 24, 2025, at Chamchuri 4 Building, Room 202, was presided over by Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, and Mr. Tawatchai Sumranwanich, EGAT’s Deputy Governor for Strategy.
Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat stated, “Chulalongkorn University and EGAT share a common mission — to serve all Thai people. This knowledge exchange and innovation development aim to address sustainable energy needs while also focusing on community, social, environmental, and public health research within EGAT communities and surrounding areas. We also emphasize area-based research to produce tangible and sustainable outcomes across all dimensions.”
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kulyos Audomvongseree, Chair of the Digital Technology, Knowledge Management, and Innovation Committee at EGAT, emphasized EGAT’s commitment to delivering affordable and environmentally friendly energy. “As a key national energy provider, EGAT seeks to proactively drive targeted research that aligns with its mission and yields practical results. We believe Chulalongkorn University’s research will help strengthen power generation that is both environmentally sustainable and energy-resilient, supporting a creative, long-term energy future for Thailand.”
Mr. Tawatchai Sumranwanich highlighted the importance of promoting and developing key energy technologies and innovations for practical use through knowledge exchange and collaborative innovation between the two institutions. This collaboration will enhance production efficiency, sustainable energy use, and energy resource management in line with future societal and economic demands.
The MoU establishes a partnership in education, research, and development projects focusing on advancing knowledge and innovation in energy and key technologies such as:
Additionally, the collaboration includes research in community development, society, environment, public health, and area-based research. Through joint innovation and knowledge sharing, the partnership aims to foster the development of high-efficiency energy systems and products that meet diverse user needs sustainably.
