Chulalongkorn University’s College of Population Studies and the Department of Older Persons, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, in collaboration with the international networks, organized the “Strengthening Inclusive and Equitable Care Systems in the Context of an Ageing Society” international workshop on July 31 – August 1, 2025, in Mayfair A Ballroom and Somerset A, The Berkeley Hotel Pratunam. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Manoj Lohatepanont, Chulalongkorn University Vice President, and Mr. Thanasunthorn Swangsalee, Director-General of the Department of Older Persons, presided over the opening ceremony, along with Asst. Prof. Dr. Rukchanok Karcharnubarn, Dean of the College of Population Studies. The workshop saw participation by over 120 distinguished guests and experts from government, private, and civil society sectors, both at the national and international levels, as well as over 200 online participants.
This international workshop was organized to strengthen life care systems for people of all ages and drive policies for comprehensive and equitable life care across all age groups in the context of an aging society. It aims to improve the care system, which is the structure and mechanism of policies, services, resources, and networks working together to support the health and quality of life of people of all ages. This is crucial for creating equality, sustainability, and respect for the dignity of everyone in society.
The workshop featured recommendations on policies and practical approaches for developing comprehensive and equitable care systems, international knowledge and experience exchange, and multi-sector network collaboration to sustainably support an aging society and enhance the quality of life for people of all ages. This included special lectures by international experts, policy discussions, and group discussions on four main topics: strengthening care systems from a lifelong development perspective, developing elderly healthcare, creating environments conducive to care, and innovation, research, and data management for effective and sustainable care systems.
This workshop marked an important step in creating a society that is well-equipped to cope with becoming a sustainable aging society while enhancing the quality of life for Thai people of all ages.
