Chula Cultural Management Office Presents CU String Orchestra in “Music Connections” Concert in Malaysia

The Cultural Management Office of Chulalongkorn University led the CU String Orchestra to perform the concert “Music Connections” on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at the Auditorium Bandaraya, Kuala Lumpur City Hall, Malaysia. The event was a collaboration between Chulalongkorn University and the Department of Culture, Arts, Tourism, and Sports of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.


The concert featured musical arrangements by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nora-ath Chanklum, conductor of the orchestra, showcasing the delicate beauty of Thai songs such as Sok Phama, Seenualn, Asawalee-la, and Lao Duang Duean, interpreted through a Western string ensemble. The performance was also accompanied by Thai classical dance, with guest musicians from Orkestra Kuala Lumpur joining in to perform both Thai and Malaysian pieces.

The orchestra and dance performers included students from the Faculty of Education, Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Law, and Faculty of Communication Arts, providing them with invaluable international performance experience.
The concert received a warm welcome from Dr. Isabella Pek, Music Director of Orkestra Kuala Lumpur, and was attended by staff from the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, led by Mr. Thorne Thaenrattanawichit, First Secretary, along with visiting students from Thailand and Malaysian audiences.
