Chula Halal Science Center Hosts Thailand Halal Scientists Competition & Healthcare Innovation 2025

The Halal Science Center of Chulalongkorn University recently organized the final round of the “Thailand Halal Scientists Competition & Healthcare Innovation 2025” on August 21, 2025, at the Chulalongkorn University Academic Services Center. The event was opened by Professor Dr. Rungsun Rerknimitr, Assistant to the President for Innovation at Chulalongkorn University. A welcome report was delivered by Dr. Pornpimol Mahamad, Director of the Halal Science Center.

Out of more than 322 innovation projects submitted, 20 finalist teams were selected to present their innovations to a panel of expert judges in the Final Pitching round.
Winners:
First Prize:
- Innovation Project: Development of a blood flow simulation program and calculation of coronary artery stenosis percentage
- School: Demonstration School of Islamic Science, Prince of Songkla University, Pattani Province
First Runner-Up:
- Innovation Project: Mini Jelly Capsule infused with active compounds from local weeds to eliminate Aedes mosquito larvae
- School: Benchamatheputhit School, Phetchaburi Province
Second Runner-Up:
- Innovation Project: Infection-indicating film for pressure ulcers using natural indicators and extracts from Eclipta prostrata weed
- School: Benchamatheputhit School, Phetchaburi Province
Honorable Mentions:
- Innovation Project: Energy drink and lactation stimulant made from banana blossom milk
- School: Demonstration School of Prince of Songkla University (Secondary Division), Pattani Province
- Innovation Project: Nano-encapsulation of active compounds from mangosteen peel using deep eutectic solvents
- School: Kanarasadornbumroong Yala School, Yala Province
Popular Vote Award:
- Innovation Project: Development of an aged Gnetum gnemon leaf-based prebiotic product with antioxidant properties and nutritional benefits for children
- School: Demonstration School of Prince of Songkla University (Secondary Division), Pattani Province





This event serves as a significant platform to promote learning in science and Halal innovation among youth and to inspire the next generations of scientists.
