Chulalongkorn University extends its heartfelt congratulations to Professor Dr. Sathirakorn Pongpanich, Assistant to the President for Special Affairs at Chulalongkorn University, on being honored by the Universal Thai Wellness Association of Canada (UTWA) with the Legendary Icon Award at the UTWA – World Thai Wellness Championship 2025.
UTWA (Universal Thai Wellness Association) is an international organization that brings together global leaders to elevate the art of Thai wellness to the world stage. Its mission is to promote the beauty and benefits of Thai massage and holistic health worldwide. The organization aims to support the global recognition of Thai beauty sciences, Thai massage, traditional wellness practices, and Thai culture. The Legendary Icon Award is presented to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the global Thai health and wellness industry.
The UTWA – World Thai Wellness Championship 2025, organized by the Universal Thai Wellness Association (UTWA), is a global Thai massage competition open to practitioners and enthusiasts around the world. The event aims to promote and elevate Thai wellness internationally and is scheduled to take place from September 26–27, 2025, in Edmonton, Canada.
Professor Dr. Sathirakorn Pongpanich, Assistant to the President for Special Affairs at Chulalongkorn University and former Dean of the College of Public Health Sciences, earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from Chulalongkorn University, and his master’s and doctoral degrees in Health Economics and Policy from UCLA and Johns Hopkins University, respectively.
Professor Dr. Sathirakorn is recognized for his dedication to academic advancement and is widely respected in the fields of health economics and public health. His work has been published both nationally and internationally, and he has authored numerous academic textbooks. In addition, he has played a key role in several health-related initiatives, including the VELA (Vitality, Enhancement, Longevity Academy) project, which integrates research, policy, and practice to enhance the health and quality of life for the Thai population.
