Chulalongkorn University extends its warmest congratulations to Professor Dr. Suchada Sukrong, Executive Director of Chulalongkorn School of Integrated Innovation, Chulalongkorn University, on receiving the 2025 Outstanding Pharmacist Award in the Field of Herbal Pharmacy from the Pharmaceutical Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage.
The awarding ceremony was held during the 13th Thailand Pharmacy Congress (PRIS2025) on Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM, at Room 205, IMPACT Forum, Muang Thong Thani.
Professor Dr. Suchada Sukrong, a faculty member in the Department of Pharmacognosy and Pharmaceutical Botany at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chulalongkorn University, is a pioneer and leading figure in the field of herbal pharmacy in Thailand. She has significantly advanced the standardization of Thai herbal medicine to meet international standards and gain global recognition.
Her outstanding achievements include the development and application of DNA barcoding technology to authenticate over 200 species of Thai herbs and other rare plants. This innovation helps prevent herb adulteration and blends Thai traditional wisdom with modern science, laying a strong foundation for Thai herbal medicine to thrive on the global stage.
In addition, Professor Dr. Suchada has initiated Thailand’s herbal safety surveillance system, establishing a monitoring framework for adverse reactions to herbal medicines. This ensures that Thai herbal products can be safely and sustainably integrated into the public health system.
She has also developed herbal innovations that meet the needs of modern society, such as:
- CARA™ enriched extract—a potent extract that preserves the quality and benefits of Thai herbs.
- PhytFoon PM2.5 Removal Spray—an herbal-based spray designed for environmental and health protection.
On the international and policy levels, Professor Dr. Suchada represents Thailand in the Good Practice in Traditional Chinese Medicine Research Association (GP-TCM RA) and is a frequent speaker at international academic forums, promoting the potential of Thai herbal medicine worldwide. She also serves as an expert member on the National Herbal Policy Committee (2024–present), where she plays a key role in shaping Thailand’s national herbal policy direction.
