Chula and NUS Sign MOU to Advance Environmental Research and Promote International Sustainable Development

The Environmental Research Institute for Sustainability (ERIS), Chulalongkorn University, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for academic collaboration with the National University of Singapore (NUS) on October 31, 2025, at the NUS Environmental Research Institute (NERI), Republic of Singapore.





The signing was represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pantawat Sampanpanish, Director of ERIS, Chulalongkorn University, on behalf of the President of Chulalongkorn University, and Mr. George Loh, NUS Associate Vice President (Strategic Partnership). Witnesses included Prof. Dr. Srilert Chotpantarat, Deputy Director for Research Planning and Strategy, ERIS, Chulalongkorn University, and Prof. Dr. Sanjay Swarup, Director of NERI, NUS.
On this occasion, executives from both institutions discussed future collaborative initiatives, including:
- joint research in natural resources and environmental management,
- scientific and technological knowledge transfer for effective environmental management, and
- capacity-building for researchers and young scientists in both countries.
These efforts aim to strengthen the ability to address climate change and global ecosystem transformation in a sustainable manner.
This partnership reaffirms Chulalongkorn University’s Environmental Research Institute for Sustainability as a leading center for environmental research and innovation in the region and globally. Collaborating with a world-renowned institution such as NUS will enhance the impact and value of joint research outcomes, driving tangible social benefits.



Ultimately, this cooperation will further Chulalongkorn University’s environmental and sustainability research, contributing to positive impacts on society, the environment, and overall quality of life—a core mission that the institute continues to uphold.
