Prof. Dr. Kumkom Pornprasit, Dean of the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Chulalongkorn University, together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pornprapit Phoasavadi, Associate Dean for International Affairs, welcomed Prof. Wang Jiansong, Dean of the Academy of Arts and Design (AADTH) at Tsinghua University, on the occasion of his visit to Chulalongkorn University for the academic collaboration with the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts on November 29, 2025.
The Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Chulalongkorn University, exchanged research frameworks with the Academy of Arts and Design, Tsinghua University, to develop academic cooperation and establish a research network in the arts aimed at fostering innovation and technology for the preservation and transmission of cultural heritage, the spirit of craftsmanship, and contemporary product design. The collaboration also focuses on strategies to drive the design industry for improved environmental efficiency, the development of sustainable cultural ecosystems, and innovations that use the arts to promote well-being.
Particular emphasis is placed on integrating science and fine arts, aligning strongly with the faculty’s research development—such as materials science innovations for producing Thai musical instruments, including the khong wong yai (large gong circle).
Tsinghua University, a world-leading institution in the arts, is ranked 14th globally in Art & Design.
