Chulalongkorn University is transforming Thai dentistry through digital innovation with the launch of its International Master of Science Program in Implant and Esthetic Dentistry, together with the opening of Thailand’s first integrated education and research center in implant and esthetic dentistry. This center brings together international-standard teaching, state-of-the-art digital dental clinics, and world-class research in one place.
The Faculty of Dentistry, Chulalongkorn University, held a press conference to launch the International Master of Science Program in Implant and Esthetic Dentistry – Chulalongkorn University Implants and Esthetics Dentistry (CUIE) – along with the CUIE Clinic, one of the most advanced digital dental clinics in Thailand, on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at the CUIE Clinic, Preclinical Building (1st floor), Faculty of Dentistry.
The event was presided over by Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, who delivered the opening remarks to mark this significant milestone in advancing modern dental education and clinical care. The new program combines digital innovation, advanced implantology, and functional-esthetic concepts to meet global professional standards and develop highly specialized dental professionals for Thailand and beyond.
The press event commenced with welcome remarks and a program introduction by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jaijam Suwanwela, Program Director of CUIE and Director of the Clinic, followed by the official opening by Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University.
Prof. Dr. Pornchai Jansisyanont, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, then presented a token of appreciation to the President. Afterwards, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nikos Mattheos, Academic Director, provided detailed information about the program, and Assoc. Prof. Martin Schittek Janda from Malmö University, Sweden, gave an academic introduction.
During the event, the media and guests were invited to observe and participate in hands-on demonstrations of four cutting-edge digital dentistry technologies:
Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, emphasized that the launch of the CUIE program marks a major advancement in elevating Thai dental education to global standards. The program aims to produce specialists with comprehensive expertise in implantology and esthetic dentistry in the digital era. He noted that dentistry today extends beyond oral health to encompass psychological well-being and confidence through a healthy, beautiful smile. The program is therefore built on a human-centered philosophy, complemented by rigorous scientific and clinical training.
The president highlighted the fact that the Faculty of Dentistry is consistently ranked among the Top 60 in the world, demonstrating excellence in both academic and clinical domains. The CUIE program reinforces the faculty’s leadership in international dental education and reflects the university’s commitment to preparing future professionals for a rapidly evolving world shaped by digital innovation and AI.
According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jaijam Suwanwela, the CUIE program addresses the rapid transformation of modern dentistry driven by digital technologies and personalized treatment. It aims to train next-generation dentists equipped with advanced implantology and esthetic dentistry skills through comprehensive digital workflows.
The curriculum is built upon four pillars of excellence:
The program, delivered entirely in English and open to international students, aligns with Chulalongkorn University’s global strategy.
The Chulalongkorn University Implant and Esthetic Dentistry International Program and Clinic (CUIE) is the first center in Thailand to integrate international dental education, a comprehensive digital dental clinic, and advanced research under one roof.
Digital technologies such as face scanning, AI-driven smile design, and robot-assisted surgery are reshaping patient care by enhancing precision, speed, and treatment quality. These technologies, however, require highly skilled professionals—a need that the CUIE program is designed to fulfill.
Developed over two years, CUIE comprises the international master’s program, a full-service digital dental clinic, and an advanced research center. The clinic has been operating on a pilot basis since August.
The CUIE Clinic is designed as an advanced specialty center integrating technology, expertise, and innovation to enhance treatment efficiency, reduce patient time and cost, and meet international service standards.
Key features include:
The clinic provides services in implantology, digital crowns, and esthetic dentistry, and offers special programs to support postgraduate dental education while ensuring affordable access for the public:
