Chula–PTTEP Partnership Advances Research and Human Capital for Thailand’s Energy Future 

Chulalongkorn University and PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP) held the signing of the 7th Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on academic collaboration. The MoU was signed by Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, and Mr. Peerapong Chailapo, Acting Senior Executive Vice President of the Engineering, Development, and Maintenance Group at PTTEP, on February 19, 2026, at Chula Narumit House. 

The 7th MoU between Chulalongkorn University and PTTEP aims to promote personnel development, education, and advanced research in geosciences, petroleum geophysics, engineering, science, and technology. The collaboration supports petroleum exploration and production missions with the aim to strengthen Thailand’s energy security. 

Chulalongkorn University and PTTEP have maintained continuous academic cooperation since 2004. This latest agreement extends the partnership for another five years, covering scholarship support, research and development, specialized training, and knowledge and technology exchange. Many research and development projects have been further developed into practical applications, enhancing the efficiency of petroleum exploration and production operations, as well as related businesses—benefiting the advancement of Thailand’s energy industry. 

Over the years, Chulalongkorn University has continuously received support from PTTEP in various areas, particularly in the establishment of the international Master of Science Program in Petroleum Geoscience, launched in 2008. In addition, PTTEP provides annual scholarships to Chulalongkorn students in engineering and geology. This support has enabled the university to successfully produce graduates in International Petroleum Geoscience, Petroleum Geology, Petroleum Engineering, and Petroleum Geophysics, earning national and international recognition and immense pride.
