Chula and BDMS Join Forces to Advance Health Innovation 

Chulalongkorn University and Bangkok Hospital, under the management of Bangkok Dusit Medical Services Public Company Limited (BDMS), held a signing ceremony to establish academic, research, and research development collaboration aimed at advancing medical innovations and technologies. The partnership integrates knowledge between academia and the private sector. The agreement was signed by Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, and Dr. Methinee Maipang, M.D., Group 1 Chief Executive and Director of Bangkok Hospital, on March 5, 2026, at the Reception Room, 2nd Floor, Chamchuri 4 Building, Chulalongkorn University.

Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, spoke about the collaboration’s goal of helping position Thailand as a regional hub for medical innovation. “Our shared mission today is to improve the health and quality of life of people across the country through research and innovation that responds to real quality-of-life needs. With a shared commitment to strengthening research and innovation capacity—across academic disciplines, including social sciences and humanities—Chulalongkorn University brings comprehensive expertise that will help build a credible and strong collaborative network, ultimately contributing to the well-being and happiness of Thai society.”

Professor Dr. Pornanong Aramwit, Vice President of Chulalongkorn University, stated that this collaboration will serve to expand the application of research and innovation for the benefit of people nationwide and potentially extend to international impact. The partnership also emphasizes human resource development by creating a learning ecosystem where students can gain hands-on experience in real-world settings at leading private hospitals. At the same time, hospital personnel will have opportunities to enhance their knowledge through the university’s modern academic programs, contributing to the development of truly world-class medical professionals.

Dr. Pongtorn Kietdumrongwong, M.D., Director of the BDMS Health Research Center and Director of Project Management at Bangkok Dusit Medical Services Public Company Limited, highlighted the vision of translating medical innovation into practical use through collaboration in education and training. Key initiatives include building collaborative platforms among universities, hospitals, and industry; supporting the commercialization of medical innovations and startups; and upholding principles of ethics, safety, and sustainability. He emphasized that this partnership in education, research, and innovation is expected to lead to long-term success. 

The academic and research collaboration between Chulalongkorn University and Bangkok Dusit Medical Services Public Company Limited aims to integrate cooperation between higher education institutions and private healthcare providers. It seeks to promote and support the development of research in medical innovation and technology while encouraging the practical application of research outputs—whether in commercial, policy, or public domains. The partnership also establishes a systematic framework for joint operations to sustainably develop research, innovation, and high-quality medical and nursing personnel.

Chula is the place to discover one’s true individuality and the years I spent here were most enjoyable.
