Eat Smart, Move Strong: Chula Empowers Staff for Healthier Living

Chulalongkorn University, through its Human Resources Management Office in collaboration with the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, held the opening ceremony of the project “Eat Smart, Move Strong: Enhancing Nutrition and Movement to Slow Degeneration” under the Chula Preventive Health Care 2026 program on March 17, 2026, at Room 2201, 20th Floor, Chamchuri 10 Building (Chaloem Rajakumari 60th Anniversary Building). The initiative aims to promote sustainable health among Chula personnel.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Associate Professor Dr. Kanaphon Chanhom, Vice President of Chulalongkorn University, who emphasized the importance of preventive healthcare under the concept “care before illness, prevent before cure.” The project is designed to prepare working-age staff for healthy aging, supporting both physical and mental well-being, reducing the risk of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), and enhancing long-term work performance. Also in attendance were Mr. Pokai Sriratanobhas, Assistant to the President, Ms. Nusara Pankrod, Director of the Human Resources Management Office, along with Chula personnel.

The “Eat Smart, Move Strong” project aims to develop knowledge and skills in nutrition and appropriate exercise among 120 staff members aged 40–59, divided into two groups. The program runs over 8 weeks and includes activities covering both smart eating (Eat Smart) and physical strengthening (Move Strong). These activities include learning how to read nutrition labels, making healthier daily food choices, following personalized exercise programs, improving flexibility and muscle strength, and fostering long-term healthy behaviors.

Participants will also receive comprehensive health assessments, including blood tests, body composition analysis, physical fitness evaluations, and personalized guidance from nutrition and physical therapy experts to design suitable individual health plans.

This initiative reflects Chulalongkorn University’s commitment to enhancing the sustainable well-being of its staff and aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being).

Chula’s encouragement and support for research is excellent for teachers, students, and the public.
