Chulalongkorn University proudly congratulates Ms. Tippawan Santhisiri, a fourth-year student from the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, majoring in Western Music (Composition), for winning first prize in the “Call for Score 2026” competition. The competition, organized by the Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music, was held under the theme “The Symphony of Silk: Weaving the Threads of Life.” The concept transforms the intricate beauty of Thai silk into powerful orchestral music, creatively reflecting the journey of silk threads—from simplicity to elegance—while emphasizing sound textures that resemble the weaving of silk.
Tippawan expressed her great pride and joy at receiving the first prize, which included a cash award of 20,000 baht.
She said “Call for Score 2026” was a highly challenging competition, as participants had only one month to compose and submit their work. She joined the competition to apply the knowledge she had gained from her studies in a practical context and to further develop herself for the future.
Her composition, titled “Weaving the Threads of Life,” is written for orchestra and tells the story of Thai weaving—from humble beginnings to prosperity, ultimately portraying the legacy of Thai weaving as a memorable profession. From another perspective, the piece imitates the weaving process itself, narrating the journey from silk thread production to the creation of beautiful Thai fabric. The work received praise from the judging panel for its creativity and its outstanding musical expression.
The composition “Weaving the Threads of Life” will be premiered by the Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music Youth Orchestra (PYO) at the concert “The Symphony of Silk: Threads of Grace” on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 7:00 PM at Sangita Vadhana Hall, Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music.
