The Faculty of Engineering at Chulalongkorn University is now inviting researchers, academics, and professionals worldwide to submit abstracts and papers for the 18th Aceh International Workshop and Expo on Sustainable Disaster Recovery (AIWEST-DR 2026), taking place from July 22 to 24, 2026, at the Mandarin Hotel Bangkok

Call for Abstracts and Papers Opens for AIWEST-DR 2026  on Sustainable Disaster Recovery

Co-organized with the National Earthquake Research Center, the Thailand Research Fund, and the Tsunami and Disaster Mitigation Research Center (TDMRC), this year’s conference will be held under the theme, “Resilience by Design: Systems for Sustainable Recovery.” The event will serve as a dynamic global platform, bringing together leading researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to exchange insights and explore innovative solutions to today’s most pressing disaster management challenges.

AIWEST-DR 2026 will cover a wide range of critical topics, including hazard mitigation; inclusive community resilience and disaster education; urban planning, reconstruction, and recovery; disaster in society, culture, and history; and hazard impact assessment. Additional focus areas include building sustainable and innovative systems for coastal community resilience; disaster risk financing and insurance; human security and public health—including pandemic risks; business continuity management; and disaster response and evacuation. The conference will also feature dedicated discussions on Cyclone Senyar 2025, examining its impacts, response strategies, and key lessons learned.

Abstract submissions are open until April 30, 2026, followed by full paper submissions due on May 15, 2026. Notifications of acceptance will be announced on June 5, 2026

The conference will be held in a hybrid format, enabling both in-person and virtual participation and reinforcing its commitment to inclusive, global knowledge exchange.
