Chulalongkorn University welcomed a delegation from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to assess the university’s facilities and capabilities in support of Thailand’s bid to host the Youth Olympic Games. The delegation was received by Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, along with Associate Professor Dr. Sukanya Sompiboon and Associate Professor Dr. Sittidaj Pongkijvorasin, Vice Presidents; Associate Professor Dr. Pakorn Varanusupakul, Assistant to the President; Associate Professor Dr. Chaipat Lawsirirat, Dean of the Faculty of Sports Science; and Captain Chanatip Sonkham, Director of the Chulalongkorn University Sports Center. The visit took place on April 28, 2026, at Room 105, Maha Chulalongkorn Building.
Also in attendance were executives from the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), led by Mr. Preecha Laloon, and representatives from the National Olympic Committee of Thailand under Royal Patronage, including Colonel Chaiyapak Siriwat, Dr. Suwanna Kay Silpa-archa, and Admiral Chainarong Charoenrak,. The IOC delegation was headed by Danka Hrbeková, Chair of the IOC in Slovakia, along with distinguished committee members and staff.
This visit marks another significant step for Thailand in demonstrating its readiness on the international stage, highlighting strengths in infrastructure, sports science management, and world-class personnel to support its bid to host the Youth Olympic Games, a major global sporting event for youth.
The collaboration among all sectors reflects a shared commitment to elevating Thailand as an international sports hub, inspiring Thai youth, and advancing the country’s presence on the global stage.
