Chula Students Win 1st Prize for Innovation for Ageing Society

Congratulations to the team of Chula students for winning the 1st prize from the Comprehensive Course in Japanese Business Innovation under the theme Innovation for Ageing Society”. Organized by the Japanese Chamber of Commerce (JCC), Bangkok, the competition was to create innovation and new products to solve health problems for the elderly, prevent disease, balance health, or help reduce accidents.  The award ceremony took place on 18 September 2020 at the Landmark Hotel, Bangkok.

The winning students included Mr. Rath Rungnirundorn and Miss Kankanit Kiratiyothin from department of Information and Communication Engineering (ICE), Faculty of Engineering; Mr. Natthaphat Huayudomsin from department of Aerospace Engineering (AERO), Faculty of Engineering; Miss Thanita Phanitpattanakit from the Chula Business School and Miss Sirinda Limsong from the Faculty of Architecture.

The team created ARTDERLY, the art and craft game for the elderly, by combining arts with exercises to stretch the muscles and encourage mobility while at home.  Moreover, the game is designed to balance the mind and reduce the possibility of Dementia, and as well as strengthen family relationships.  Based on medical principles, the product has been tested with real users and has was consulted with a medical team from the Dementia Day Center, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital.

Chula’s encouragement and support for research is excellent for teachers, students, and the public.
