Chula and WNI Strengthen Ties Through Meteorology Knowledge Exchange

The WNI Wx Bunka Foundation of Weathernews Inc. (WNI), Japan, paid a visit to the President of Chulalongkorn University to express appreciation for Chula students’ participation in the “Satellite Observation Data Utilization Contest” and to foster future collaboration. The meeting took place on May 26, 2026, at the reception room of Chamchuri 4 Building, Chulalongkorn University. 

Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, together with Prof. Dr. Rungsun Rerknimitr, Vice President of Chulalongkorn University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Manoj Lohatepanont, Vice President of Chulalongkorn University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pannee Cheewinsiriwat, Head of the Geospatial Technology for Natural Hazard Monitoring and Forecasting Platform; and Assistant Professor Dr. Piyatida Ruangrassamee from the Faculty of Engineering, welcomed the executives and staff from Weathernews Inc. (WNI). The delegation included Mr. Chihito Kusabiraki, Chairman and CEO of Weathernews Inc. and Councilor of the WNI Wx Bunka Foundation; Mr. Masachika Nishibayashi, Managing Director of Weathernews (Thailand) Co., Ltd.; Mr. Boonnart Sintoowong, Consultant and Senior Sales and Marketing Manager of Weathernews (Thailand) Co., Ltd.; and Ms. Patsita Charoenpongniti, Sales Representative of Weathernews (Thailand) Co., Ltd. 

Weathernews Inc. (WNI) is a private meteorological company from Japan and the founder of the WNI Wx Bunka Foundation. The foundation provides training for meteorological engineers across the Asia-Pacific region and organizes satellite data collection competitions to advance meteorological knowledge, promote data sharing, and enhance business capabilities. These efforts contribute to disaster risk reduction related to climate change impacts.
