Chula Welcomes UNSW Delegation to Strengthen Bilateral Academic Ties
Chulalongkorn University faculty and executives, led by Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, welcomed representatives from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), headed by Ms. Sarah Lightfoot, CEO of UNSW College and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education Futures), together with representatives from the Australian Embassy in Thailand. The delegation visited Chulalongkorn University to discuss future collaboration in research, innovation, lifelong learning, student and staff exchange, and broader academic partnerships between the two institutions. The meeting took place on June 25, 2026, at the reception room on the 7th floor of the Chamchuri 4 building.

The discussions focused on opportunities to strengthen cooperation in lifelong learning, joint research and innovation projects, and student and staff mobility, as well as the development of joint degrees and integrated academic programs. During the meeting, Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat introduced Chula XL (The College Extension and Lifelong Learning Center for the People) and shared the university’s vision of advancing lifelong learning on the international stage, including expanding executive education initiatives.
The two parties also exchanged views on commercializing research, fostering innovation ecosystems, promoting entrepreneurship, and supporting startup development. Chulalongkorn University highlighted the roles of CU Innovation Hub, CU Social Innovation Hub, and CU Enterprise in driving innovation and entrepreneurial development.
In addition, the discussions explored future opportunities for collaboration, including the establishment of joint research and innovation centers, the development of interdisciplinary academic programs, and the possibility of organizing a Thailand–Australia business conference. Representatives from the University of New South Wales expressed strong interest in expanding collaboration with Chulalongkorn University in the areas of lifelong learning and integrated academic programs.
