Chula and Mahidol University Join Forces to Host IGSCPP 2026

The College of Public Health Sciences at Chulalongkorn University, in collaboration with the ASEAN Institute for Health Development (AIHD) and the Institute for Population and Social Research (IPSR), Mahidol University, hosted the 17th International Graduate Students Conference on Population and Public Health Sciences (IGSCPP 2026) on July 7, 2026, at the Poonsapaya Navavongs Na Ayudhaya Conference Room, Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Dr. Rungsun Rerknimitr, Vice President of Chulalongkorn University. Welcoming remarks were delivered by Professor Dr. Chitlada Areesantichai, Dean of the College of Public Health Sciences, Chulalongkorn University; Associate Professor Dr. Thunwadee Suksaroj, Director of the ASEAN Institute for Health Development (AIHD); and Associate Professor Dr. Chalermpol Chamchan, Director of the Institute for Population and Social Research (IPSR), Mahidol University. The conference brought together more than 200 participants from 10 institutions across Asia, including attendees from Thailand and abroad.

Now in its 17th consecutive year, the IGSCPP aims to strengthen the capacity of graduate students and early-career researchers by providing a platform to present research findings, exchange academic knowledge and experiences, and foster collaborative networks among institutions and researchers in the fields of population studies and public health.

One of the conference highlights was the keynote lecture delivered by Dr. Suwit Wibulpolprasert, Vice Chairman of the International Health Policy Program Foundation, Chairman of the Research Policy Committee of the Mahidol University Council, and Member of the Mahidol University Council. His keynote address, titled “Rethinking Population and Public Health: Aging, AI and Global Resilience,” explored demographic transitions, the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in health systems, and strategies for strengthening the resilience of public health systems to address emerging global challenges. 

The conference also featured oral and poster presentations by graduate students from the three participating institutions, showcasing a wide range of research in population studies and public health. These sessions provided opportunities for participants to exchange ideas, receive academic feedback, and establish future research collaborations. 

The conference was organized under the leadership of Associate Professor Dr. Morakot Nuntapaitoon, Associate Dean of the College of Public Health Sciences, Chulalongkorn University, who served as Chairman of the Organizing Committee. The event was designed to serve as a key platform for developing the next generation of researchers and advancing knowledge in population and public health sciences to help address the evolving health challenges facing societies around the world.
