Chula Welcomes CU110 Freshmen to the Chula Community 

Chulalongkorn University held its 2026 Academic Year Freshman Orientation to welcome the CU 110 incoming class into the university community, known as the Chula community. The event aimed to foster pride in being Chulalongkorn students and prepare freshmen for university life.

The ceremony featured a welcome address and words of encouragement from Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, together with Associate Professor Dr. Sukanya Sompiboon, Vice President, Associate Professor Dr. Pakorn Waranusupakul, and Assistant Professor Dr. Narapong Srivisal, Assistant President for Student Affairs, as well as university and faculty administrators. The event took place on Friday, July 31, 2026, at the Chulalongkorn University Auditorium. 

Orientation Sessions 

The orientation was divided into three sessions: 

Orientation Activities 

The program included performances of the university anthem and a special welcome song by CU Band and CU Chorus, as well as performances by various student clubs. 

A highlight of the event was an Exclusive Talk by Rudklao Amaradit, a Chulalongkorn Faculty of Arts alumna, who shared her experiences of studying, participating in extracurricular activities, and adapting to university life. She offered advice and inspiration to help new students prepare for their journey at Chulalongkorn. 

Following the President’s welcome address, the freshmen took the Chulalongkorn University Student Oath. The ceremony concluded with the traditional procession of the Phra Kiao, the university’s emblem representing honor and pride, accompanied by the university flag procession. This memorable tradition marked the beginning of university life for the 110th generation of Chulalongkorn students. 

A Warm Welcome 

The atmosphere throughout the event was warm and inspiring. New students from every faculty attended together and were welcomed by university executives, faculty members, and senior students. The event reflected Chulalongkorn University’s commitment to supporting its incoming students and helping them develop into graduates distinguished by academic excellence, integrity, and social responsibility. 

President’s Message 

Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat stated that entering Chulalongkorn University marks the beginning of a journey that will shape every student’s future. He congratulated the freshmen and thanked them for choosing Chulalongkorn as part of their life’s path.

He emphasized that the university is committed to supporting students, providing opportunities to learn, grow, and discover their full potential through academics, extracurricular activities, and a wide range of experiences. The goal is to ensure that students’ time at Chulalongkorn becomes a transformative and lifelong source of pride. 

He also addressed the rapidly changing world driven by advances in artificial intelligence (AI), noting that the university prioritizes developing human potential alongside technological progress. “Chulalongkorn is not a society that uses artificial intelligence as a substitute for human intelligence. Rather, we are a society dedicated to nurturing and creating intelligence.” 

He encouraged students to make the most of their university years by developing their knowledge, skills, and practical experience through hands-on learning. By doing so, they can create value for themselves and society while becoming graduates who are well prepared to face the challenges of the future with confidence, fulfillment, and pride in being members of the Chulalongkorn community.
