Chula Student Selected as Thailand’s Youth Delegate to Tsinghua Global Youth Dialogue 2026
Chulalongkorn University congratulates Mr. Patipond Tiyapunjanit, a 3rd-year student at the Computer Engineering and Digital Technology Program (CEDT), Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, as the CEO and founder of a startup, AquaWise, on being selected as Thailand’s youth delegate to join the 4th Tsinghua Global Youth Dialogue (TGYD 2026). The event was held from June 27 to July 10, 2026, in Hangzhou, Shanghai, and Beijing, China.

The Tsinghua Global Youth Dialogue (TGYD) is an international exchange program organized by Tsinghua University to bring together youth leaders from around the world to exchange knowledge, build collaborative networks, and develop solutions to global challenges through dialogue, study visits, and hands-on activities. The 2026 program was held under the theme “Bridging the Divides (破界同行),” or “transcending differences and fostering youth collaboration.” The event was jointly organized by Tsinghua University and the Asian Universities Alliance (AUA).
This year, the program saw more than 5,163 applicants from 163 countries, who then underwent a highly competitive selection process until 120 young representatives from over 60 countries were chosen to join the network of Changemakers. The selected participants were those with outstanding achievements in research, social impact initiatives, or innovative projects addressing global challenges across a wide range of fields, including technology, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, sustainability, environmental protection, arts and culture, and peacebuilding.
Besides being a youth delegate from Thailand, Mr. Patipon was also chosen to be a speaker and a youth presenter on 3 distinguished platforms at the event:
- Presenter in the Global AI Sparks session during the AI Party Night at Zhongguancun Science City, where he presented on AquaWise and its application of artificial intelligence (AI) to support shrimp farmers in Thailand.
- Panel speaker in the “AI and the Global South” discussion at Tsinghua University, presenting ideas on leveraging AI to lower information gaps and increase opportunities for small-scale producers.
- Youth representative interviewed by CGTN, China’s international news network, on the future of AI and its impact on humanity, giving examples of AI applications in aquaculture and their potential to reduce technological inequality.
Throughout the program, the youth delegates participated in policy dialogues, exchanged experiences with youth from around the world, and joined study visits focusing on innovation and technology at leading Chinese universities, research institutes, and organizations, such as Alibaba Headquarters, Zhejiang Lab, SenseTime, Xiaomi, and JD.com. They also took part in activities hosted by leading universities such as Tsinghua University, Fudan University, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University to gain insights into China’s innovation ecosystem while laying the groundwork for future international collaboration.
Being selected to participate in the 4th Tsinghua Global Youth Dialogue (TGYD 2026) reflects the strong potential of Chulalongkorn University students to drive innovation and serve as changemakers on the global stage, as well as highlights the important role of Thai youth in contributing knowledge, creativity, and startup development experience to meaningful exchanges with emerging leaders from around the world. Through such collaboration, they help advance innovative solutions to global challenges and foster lasting international partnerships.
