Chulalongkorn University Partners with NUS in Regional Platform to Drive Clean Energy Innovations 

The Energy Research Institute, Chulalongkorn University, in collaboration with the Institute for Environment and Sustainability (IES), Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore (NUS), organized a regional workshop titled “Driving Clean Energy Innovation: Strategic Policy Pathways and Market Integration in Thailand and Beyond.” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Manoj Lohatepanont, Vice President of Chulalongkorn University; Prof. Dr. Viboon Sricharoenchaikul, Director of the Energy Research Institute; and Prof. Tan-Soo Jie-Sheng, Institute for Environment and Sustainability, Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore (NUS), gave the welcoming remarks at the event on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Chula Social Innovation Hub.  

The conference was held on July 21–22, 2026, with the aim of strengthening capacity in clean energy analysis and policymaking while providing a platform for knowledge exchange and experience sharing among representatives from government agencies, regulatory bodies, industry, academia, international organizations, and energy experts from Thailand and across the region. 

The first day of the conference focused on the Solar PV Transition, covering topics such as the development of new business models and regulations, electricity grid modernization, renewable energy forecasting and management, and end-of-life management of solar photovoltaic panels. The second day addressed Sustainable Mobility and Cross-Sector Policy Coordination, with an emphasis on Thailand’s transition toward the electric vehicle (EV) industry, the readiness of the power system and charging infrastructure, and policy lessons learned from countries across Asia.  

The outcomes of the event will contribute to the development of policy recommendations and a summary report of key findings to support the advancement of clean energy, the integration of energy markets and infrastructure, and the strengthening of long-term collaborative networks in Thailand and across Southeast Asia. The workshop also underscores Chulalongkorn University’s role in connecting knowledge, research, and international partnerships to generate tangible policy and societal impact. It aligns with the university’s commitment to fostering international collaboration, promoting interdisciplinary integration, and advancing sustainable development.
