Chairman of Chulalongkorn University Council Welcomes IOMed Secretary-General
On August 25, 2026, at Reception Room 114 in the Maha Chulalongkorn Building, Prof. Dr. Surakiart Sathirathai, Chairman of the Chulalongkorn University Council, welcomed Prof. Teresa Cheng, former Secretary for Justice of the Hong Kong SAR Government and current Secretary-General of the International Organization for Mediation (IOMed). IOMed is an international organization established under the Charter of the United Nations and headquartered in Hong Kong SAR.
Discussion on Mediation and Peacebuilding Cooperation
Prof. Teresa Cheng discussed potential cooperation between IOMed and the Asia Peace and Reconciliation Council (APRC) Secretariat, which is based at Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Political Science, as well as broader avenues for cooperation with Chulalongkorn University.
The discussions focused on promoting mediation to reduce conflicts between countries and between states and private-sector entities, expanding education and learning opportunities related to dispute mediation, and promoting peacebuilding, particularly among young people.
Also participating in the discussions were Dr. Sorajak Kasemsuvan, an APRC member, and Pol. Lt. Gen. Rakchit Momongkol, an adviser to the Chairman of the Chulalongkorn University Council.
