Chula and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Discuss Academic Collaboration
Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, welcomed Dr. Tai-fai Lam, Council Chairman, and a delegation from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), who visited Chulalongkorn University to discuss academic collaboration on August 24, 2026, at the reception room on the 7th floor of the Chamchuri 4 Building.
Chulalongkorn University executives attending the meeting included Associate Professor Dr. Palanee Ammaranond, Vice President for Global Engagement and International Networks; Associate Professor Dr. Lapyote Prasittisopin, Assistant to the President; Associate Professor Dr. Han Shenglong, Director of the Confucius Institute at Chulalongkorn University; and Dr. Wichaya Komin, Deputy Director for Research and Global Engagement at the Institute of Social Research.
During the meeting, the two universities exchanged information on their respective academic strengths, international activities, and educational approaches. PolyU presented its expertise in hospitality and tourism management, civil engineering, and nursing, as well as arts and design. Chulalongkorn University, meanwhile, presented its academic capabilities and future directions for the development of tourism education.
The university leaders also discussed potential areas of collaboration, including the development of joint programs, non-degree and executive education programs, knowledge exchange, and staff capacity development. They explored opportunities to further expand student exchange programs, with the aim of providing students from a wider range of disciplines with more diverse opportunities to participate in exchange programs. The two sides also considered opportunities to establish collaboration through the Confucius Institute at Chulalongkorn University.
On this occasion, the two universities agreed to promote coordination among relevant academic units and continue discussions on the feasibility of developing joint degree and non-degree programs, research collaboration, and initiatives to promote student exchanges. These efforts contribute towards further strengthening and advancing academic cooperation between the two institutions.
